Pickering Hunt received its charter as a Pennsylvania Corporation on March 17, 1910. Pickering actually started hunting several years previous to 1910. A typewritten memo, dated October 11, 1906, was discovered in an attic in Phoenixville. The memo outlines the formation of the association and its officers and fees. The kennels are located in Nantmeal, Pennsylvania.
Hunt Season
Pickering's Hunt Season is from November through March with cubbing beginning on Labor Day weekend through October. The Hunt goes out three times a week (see Fixture Card). In addition to the hunts, there are many hunt-related horse activities that take place throughout the year (see Events).
Tradition
We adhere to the traditions of fox hunting that have been passed down from England as much as they are practical. We hunt foxes with hounds and follow hounds on horseback, because it is a good and healthy winter sport. Above all, we hunt because it is fun. We are able to hunt such beautiful territory only because of the generosity of the landowners over whose farms we ride. It is a compliment to the landowners and a credit to the sport that we dress in traditional attire.
